Whisky Tours

In collaboration with Causeway Coast Foodie Tours and The Whiskey Lad, Portrush’s certified whiskey ambassador, we offer another truly unique whiskey tasting experience.

We offer a range of Whisky tours. One of which is out Cask and Sea Whisky tour.

Setting sail from Portrush we will start the day with an on-board breakfast BBQ; using wood chippings from whiskey barrels to flavour the delicious local sausages & bacon.

On arriving at Port Ellen, you will be transported by private taxi to Ardbeg distillery.  This is your chance to unearth the mysteries of Ardbeg, through both the production process and its rich history.  You will be led on comprehensive tour of the distillery with a guided tasting in The Chairman’s Study.  Here you will sip and savour not only samples from Ardbeg’s main range, but two special drams of your guide’s choice. After a delicious two course lunch at Ardbeg, we will travel onward to our next distillery, the mighty Laphroaig.

Here you will be invited to take part in a Laphroaig & Food Pairing class & tour.  With an experienced Laphroaig host, learn how to explore the flavours in your dram when accompanied by small food samples. You will also gain the opportunity to stop off at the visitor centre, where you can learn more about the history of Laphroaig in the museum, relax in the lounge with a dram, browse the gift shop or take time to chat with the Laphroaig hosts.

Before departing the island you will have time to the village of Port Ellen.  Maybe try a few more drams from some of the other Islay Distillers at the stunning Islay Hotel, or take some pictures of the eye-catching scenery.

On the trip back to Portrush, you will have the opportunity to openly discuss your whisky experience with the rest of the group. After a day of sampling the best Islay malt whiskies, the Whiskey Lad will offer a tasting of our local tipple Bushmills Irish Whiskey on-board, overlooking the magical Co. Antrim coast.

On the crossing we may well encounter whales, dolphins, basking sharks, seals etc. so don’t forget to bring along a camera.
